I really love this coloring style and I've been looking all over for something like this to show how the colors are used - thank you!
But the brush settings look different, could you share what they are? I want to know how to get the same kind of brushy/blendy effect...

I think this is really helpful and well drawn. You did an awesome job making it simple and easy to understand.
I guess the only thing I don't really agree with is the example you gave at the end of bad coloring. I think all three of them would look fantastic in their own contexts. The last one looked rather Deathnote-y and I'm actually real fond of that style. It really all depends on how you apply it I guess. =P

but regardless, great job. XD

it wasn't necessarily bad, it was just an example as to how using colors instead of black and white add a mood to the picture and help with lighting.
